Joey Dickinson is the Salvation Army Mission Specialist stationed at the Paducah Kentucky Corps.

A Salvation Army Mission Specialist’s mission is to outreach and evangelize to those with out the love or light of God. Joey has made it his passion to outreach and evangelize to Youth and Young Adults in Paducah. To show them that God loves them and that christians can have fun too!

Since hired October 2007, Joey has successfully started and maintained the Cup of Life Coffee Shop, which the coffee shop is his ministry for Young Adults 15 and up to come and fellowship in a christian environment, all while eating free food, drinking free coffee or sodas, win door prizes, and just have fun.

Joey has also created annual days of “show and tell”. Show and tell being that he shows the people of Paducah what the army that General William Booth founded back in 1865 truly is and tells them how The Salvation Army is not just the stereo-typed “Thrift Store” but a church that worships God and lives the motto “Heart to God, Hand to Man”!

The annual days he has started so far have been NASCAR Day, Dirt Track Superstars, and The Salvation Summer Burnout.

NASCAR Day featured the NASCAR Nationwide Series Team of Brad Coleman and the #37 Kleenex Ford Fusion. The Team is owned by Baker/Curb Racing out of Nashville, Tn.

Dirt Track Superstars featured local dirt track racers and their race cars that race at Paducah International Speedway every Friday night. Over 1,000 people came to the 2008 event and there was 22 racecarsin the show, we hope that all following shows will do as good or better. PIR is owned by Dale Earnhardht Jr., Ken Schrader, & Tony “Smoke” Stewart.

And finally, The Salvation Army Summer Burnout is a Block Party styled event hosting to anyone, any age, who wants to come see a christian band play, win door prizes, have food, drinks, and fun, all in one night! We have had the band Hearts of Saints(Formerly Special D) play at our first event in 2008. We had 100 people show up and enjoy the music, food, and prizes of the night.

All these events have a theme to them. If its not evident, all of them have been put on by The Salvation Army for those in the community. We let them know that God loves them and that The Salvation Army loves them and is there for them too!
